(Palestine) – The Village of Palestine will be looking for a new Police Chief. During last night’s Palestine Village Board meeting, current Chief, Jeff Besing, announced his retirement. Besing says that after nearly forty-three years of combined law enforcement service, he is retiring. The Palestine Police Department also lost Officer, Jake McGinness, yesterday. Yesterday marked his final day with the department. Officer McGinness has taken a position with the Tuscola Police Department. He served the Village of Palestine for three and half years. Besing has served as the Palestine Police Chief for ten and half years. His last day will be October 19th.
