(Undated) – The Better Business Bureau is warning the public to be on the lookout for “health care scams.” BBB Investigator, Don O’Brien, says the scam typically starts with an email, text message, or phone call that appears to be from a government agency. He reminds you to not trust a name or number. Con artists use official-sounding names or mask their area codes by “spoofing” to make you trust them. He also reminds the public to never offer your Medicare ID number, Social Security number, health plan info, or banking information to anyone you don’t know. O’Brien says with Medicare open enrollment set to begin November 1st, now is the “prime time” for these types of scams.
