Faithless have announced their eighth album ‘Champion Sound’ and have shared its funky lead single ‘Find A Way’.
Teaming up with acclaimed poet Suli Breaks on vocals, ‘Find A Way’ features a bumping beat and keys with Breaks singing: “Our days will never be complete without your honest smiles / We can find a way”.
The track marks the group’s first new music since 2020’s ‘All Blessed’. It also marks their first release since the passing of former frontman Maxi Jazz back in December 2022. The announcement of ‘Champion Sound’ follows Faithless’ recent sell-out UK/EU tour, and headline performance at Glastonbury 2024. The release date for the album has yet to be revealed.
Back in April, the group teased that new music was on the way via their social media accounts. “As many of you have noticed, we’re back…Some shows have already been announced but we couldn’t start the summer without a little personal note. Maxi died just over a year ago and obviously we miss him every day. Thank you all for all of your kind words of support over this last year. It has really, really meant a lot,” surviving members Sister Bliss and Rollo wrote on Instagram.
In the meantime, we never stopped (couldn’t stop, never wanted to stop!) making music. Even during Maxi’s long illness we recorded and released ‘All Blessed’ and now finally, 8 years after our last live performance, we are returning to festival stages across the summer and are planning some of our own shows later this year…”
Elsewhere, last month, Sister Bliss shared her support for Nadine Shah’s decision to not to play Glastonbury festival over their low fee. She expressed how she hoped there could be a change in policy that would help support the artists.
“It’s time they change their booking policy and stop pretending to be a charity. And I say that as playing the best shows of my little life there,” she wrote. “The fact booking a headliner this year was a nightmare for them speaks volumes.”
