Gas Prices Trend Higher Ahead of the Weekend

(Undated) – Gas prices nationwide have ticked higher since the beginning of the week. According to this morning’s numbers from GasBuddy.com, the national average is $3.53 a gallon, a six-cent increase from Monday. Here in Illinois, the statewide average has jumped to $4.06 a gallon, fifteen cents higher than Monday’s average. GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, says recent refinery disruptions in the Chicago area are what has driven prices here in Illinois higher. Across the Wabash in Indiana, the statewide average is $3.66 a gallon, a two-cent decline from Monday. Drivers in Mississippi continue to enjoy the lowest prices in the nation at $2.95 a gallon. California drivers are paying the highest prices at $4.61 a gallon.
