(Robinson) – Prison staff and family members picketed outside of the Robinson Correctional Facility Thursday afternoon. Local AFSME Union President, Jeremy Hendrix, says safety has become a major concern.
Hendrix says substances are being brought into the prison via the mail and being smoked by the inmates leading to staff exposure.
Hendrix says those in attendance are hoping to shine a light on the current staffing and safety issues at not just the Robinson Correctional Facility but at prisons statewide. Those picketing outside of the Robinson Correction Facility were among ten thousand individuals at more than two dozen correctional facilities throughout Illinois.
Has any of the inmates been sick , seems like it’s just affecting the staff so far. My prayers go out to all staff& inmates
