Lawmakers Still Looking at Eliminating the Time Change

By Tony Collins Oct 30, 2024 | 6:41 AM

(Undated) – The time change is this weekend and lawmakers continue to mull over a measure to make Daylight Saving Time permanent. Senator, Marco Rubio, first introduced the “Sunshine Protection Act” which would eliminate seasonal time changes in 2018. Several iterations of the bill have been introduced, but none has passed in the U.S. House of Representatives. Rubio most recently introduced an updated version last March. The bill has been referred to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. There seems to be a general worldwide trend to do away with seasonal time changes. According to the Pew Research Center, about half of all countries in the world no longer observe DST.
