Harold Dean Wheeler,

Harold Dean Wheeler, 94, of Oblong, Illinois passed away on Saturday December 7, 2024, at his home in rural Oblong, Illinois.

He was born on July 24, 1930, in Hamilton County, Illinois to Sheridan and Anita (Malone) Wheeler. On July 14, 1951, he married Mary Fidella Donaldson, who preceded him in death on May 26, 2022.

Harold had worked for Marathon Oil Company as a welder and pump station operator, retiring in 1985. He attended Hamilton County Schools, served in the United States Army and was a member of the First Christian Church of Oblong.

Surviving are his sons Randy (Pam) Wheeler, Oblong, Illinois, William “Bill” (Kim) Wheeler, Port Charlotte, Florida and Ed (Susanne) Wheeler, Terre Haute, Indiana; grandchildren Steven (Cynthia) Wheeler, Matthew Wheeler, Andrew Wheeler and Nathan (Patricia) Wheeler; great grandchildren Cerra (Harley) Richmond, Trinity Kamplain, Alex Kamplain, London Wheeler, Colby Wheeler and Harrison Wheeler; great-great grandchildren Salem Lewis, Christa Hoke and Elliana Richmond. He is also survived by two sisters Pauline Poi, Batavia, Illinois and Lula Belle Albertson, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, granddaughter Courtnie Wheeler, great-grandson Damian Hoke, and brothers Eugene, Donald, Sheridan and Doyle Wheeler.

Celebration of Harold’s Life will be held at 12:00p.m. Wednesday December 18, 2024 at the First Christian Church in Oblong with Brother Dee Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow in Hardinville Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
