ISP Expanding “Move Over” Alert Notifications

(Undated) — The Illinois State Police is expanding the number of ways drivers receive alerts warning them they need to slow down and move over. ISP and the Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology are partnering with HAAS Alert to expand notifications to select Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Mercedes-Benz, RAM, and Volkswagen vehicles. ISP is one of the first law enforcement agencies in the country to provide real-time GPS-based traffic information to help prevent “Move Over” crashes involving stationary emergency vehicles. “Scott’s Law” requires motorists to slow down and move over when approaching a vehicle with flashing lights on the side of the road.
