Donnie Pollock, age 62, of Oblong, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2025. Born on February 1, 1963, in Princeton, Indiana, Donnie was a beloved husband, uncle, brother, son-in-law & friend whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many.
Donnie found joy in playing his guitar with his favorite song “Night Moves” echoing through the hearts of those who knew him. His love for music was matched only by his love for the great outdoors. An avid fisherman. Donnie could always be found casting a line on a warm day teaching his nieces & nephews the art of fishing & sharing in the thrill of their catches. His enthusiasm for fishing was infectious & he cherished the moments spent by the water with family, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Donnie’s heart belonged to his wife Lynda, whom he adored more than life itself. Their nearly 25 years of marriage together were filled with love, laughter & countless surprises as he often showered her with gifts & flowers for no reason at all. He affectionately called her “His Sally” a testament to the deep bond they shared. Through every high & low, Donnie’s unwavering love for Lynda was a constant source of strength & joy.
Family was everything to Donnie. He was a proud uncle to a whole parade of nieces & nephews, each of whom he spoiled in his own special way. He took great joy in teaching a few of them their first words, well maybe just Trevor with a playful nod to their shared love of music that includes the catchy lines from ICP. His sister-in-law, Daneice “Dirty,” & brother-in-law, Tray weren’t just family but cherished companions in his life & he forever held them close to his heart whether they knew or not.
Donnie’s adventurous spirit led him to Myrtle Beach often & to the mountains of Cherokee, North Carolina where he created lasting memories with Lynda. A devoted fan of the Kentucky Wildcats & the Denver Broncos, he never missed a game. Always cheering for his teams.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lynda; his sister-in-law, Daneice (Tj) of Robinson, IL; brother-in-law, Tray (Tammy) of Blacksburg, SC; sister-in-law, Cristel (Kevin) of Kings Mountain, NC; & a host of nieces & nephews who adored him; Cristen, Mikaela, Shania, Asia, Megan, Taylor, Trevor, Billy, Thane, Nathan, Zack, Dillon, Bear, Dj & many more. He also leaves behind his whole tribe of great-nieces & nephews who will carry his memory forward, Gracelynn, Nevaeh, Addy, Raegan, Emily, Presley, Mylah, Aayla, Kinzley, Charlie, baby Memphis (due in April) Jaeden, Carsyn, Joseph, Bryndon, ZeKe, Rhiley, Tucker, Colby, Zane, Malcolm, Junior & many more. His father & mother-in-law, Bill & Brinda Boyd Powers of Gastonia, NC; his sisters, Mary Kaye, Becky, Sue & Debbie; his brothers, Kenny & Jesse Lee; & a hot mess of some wonderful cousins, including Richard Pollock of Vincennes, IN.
Through the years Donnie gained two extra nephews whom he also loved; Casey Davidson & Buddy Davis. In the years they all were very close & had some of the best days together. Donnie always told Buddy that he was the best friend he’d ever had.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse & Helen Pollock; his brother Doug & his beloved niece Bailleah, affectionately known as BratBaby who is surely waiting for him at Heaven’s gate with open arms.
As we remember Donnie, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter & unforgettable moments. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of all of us & of all others who knew him. He will be deeply missed. Rest in peace Donnie. Your spirit will forever shine brightly in our hearts & memories.
