April Precipitation Could Slow Spring Planting

(Undated) — Above normal precipitation could keep farmers out of the fields for Spring planting. Illinois State Climatologist, Trent Ford, says there appears to be a “bullseye” over Illinois for the entire month of April.

Ford says that despite the forecast, there may still be some “windows of opportunity” for field work. However, there likely won’t be the more open conditions we’ve seen in years past.
