(Undated) — Weekend weather brought a lot of rain and flooding throughout the area. We recorded around four and a half inches of rain from Friday through Sunday. Add that to the two inches recorded Wednesday, and our total so far for April is nearly seven inches. For comparison, in all of April 2024, we recorded just shy of eight inches, we recorded just shy of four inches in April of 2023, and nearly four inches in all of April of 2022. A common rule of thumb is that one inch of rain is equivalent to ten inches of snow. So, for those of you who prefer snow, the rain total for the past week would be the equivalent of about seventy inches or nearly eight feet of snow. WTYE continues to be an official weather recording and reporting station for the National Weather Service.
