‘Dazed and Confused’ actor Nicky Katt’s cause of death revealed

Dazed and Confused actor Nicky Katt’s cause of death has been revealed.

This past weekend (April 13), it was announced that Nicky Katt had died on April 8 at the age of 54. At the time, no cause of death was shared. Now, his family and confirmation from medical examiners have revealed what led to the actor’s death.

In a statement to Deadline, Katt’s sister shared: “He died by suicide after battling with depression – one that he fought bravely but quietly. This is a pain no family should endure, yet far too many do. Mental illness is real, it is powerful, and it is often invisible. We hope that by sharing this, we can help break the silence and stigma that so often surrounds mental health struggles.”

She continued: “If you or someone you know is experiencing depression, please reach out. You are not alone, and help is available.”

Additionally, Deadline has confirmed with medical examiners that Katt’s death was indeed suicide, and was caused by hanging.

Nicky Katt was best known for performing in the indie film Dazed and Confused, his portrayal of Harry Senate in several seasons of TV show Boston Public, as well as roles in Friends and School of Rock.

During his career, which spanned five decades, he worked with esteemed directors such as Woody Allen on the play A Second Hand MemoryChristopher Nolan on Insomnia and The Dark Knight, and Quentin Tarantino on Death Proof.
