Seth Rogen’s pointed Donald Trump joke at the Breakthrough Prize was cut from the broadcast – check out the controversial jibe below.

The comic actor was presenting a prize for physics at the ceremony, which is often referred to as the Oscars of science, earlier this month alongside Edward Norton. When it came to be broadcast a week later on YouTube, however, Rogen’s Trump joke had been edited out.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the quip in question involved a critique of the US president and the tech giants that have been publicly backing him since his second inauguration in January.

“It’s amazing that others [who have been] in this room underwrote electing a man who, in the last week, single-handedly destroyed all of American science,” Rogen said.

Among those in attendance at the awards show were Amazon boss Jeff Bezos, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Google co-founder Sergey Brin and VK co-founder Yuri Milner. All of those individuals attended Trump’s latest inauguration ceremony.

“It’s amazing how much good science you can destroy with $320million and RFK Jr. very fast,” Rogen added. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is currently the US Secretary of Health and Human Services.

A spokesperson for the Breakthrough Prize Foundation, when asked about Rogen’s comments being cut, said: “This year’s ceremony lasted longer than the prior few years, and several edits were made in order to meet the originally planned run time.”

Rogen is far from the only entertainment figure to be outspoken on the subject of Trump in recent weeks – Jimmy Kimmel recently responded to the President’s supporters branding him a “hypocrite” for his criticisms of Trump, given that he once hosted the provocative sketch show The Man Show.

“I think it’s kind of funny,” he said. “Because the very people who are using those videos as an example of why I’m a horrible person were probably the biggest fans of the show at that time”.

He went on to explain: “We did the show a little tongue-in-cheek. I mean, if you really watch the show, we are making fun of ourselves through almost the whole show. It was not meant to be taken literally that men are superior to women, but for some people, it was. … But you can pull things out of context and then they are taken literally. And that’s just how it goes”.

Daryl Hannah, meanwhile, recently said the Trump administration tried to “mess Neil Young up” over his American citizenship.
