(Undated) – The Illinois EPA has extended the “Air Quality Warning.” They say smoke from wildfires in Canada continues in the region, pushing air quality into the very unhealthy category. CMH Nurse Practitioner, Derrek Keeler, reminds the public to limit time outside today.
Keeler says the Pulmonology Department at Northwestern Hospital says that two hours exposed to the current air quality is equivalent to smoking half a pack of cigarettes. The “Air Quality Warning” is expected to remain in effect until 7 pm this evening.
