(Undated) — Millions of dollars are being poured into Illinois roads this summer as part of the “Rebuild Illinois Capitol Plan.” IDOT Spokesman, Paul Wappel, reminds drivers to pay attention in work zones.
City of Robinson Street Supervisor, Travis Arnone, echoes those sentiments as his crews continue work throughout town. IDOT says from 2017 to 2021 on average, each year there were over six thousand work zone crashes, and more than fifteen-hundred people were injured as a result. They say of the one-hundred-forty-four work zone fatalities in Illinois from 2018-2022 six were workers. The rest were “road users.”
